The Elkin Roots Music Pageant was created by The Elkin Valley Fiddlers which fashioned as a bunch in 2012. The primary gathering was held beside the Yadkin River in Crater Park.

The competition begins with performances by Darin and Brooke Aldridge and Caleb Caudle at 7 p.m. on Friday. Saturday at 7 p.m. is the Massive Blues Evening that includes DaShawn and Wendy Hickman current: Sacred Metal, Wanda Johnson, Massive Ron Hunter and The Reeves Home band.
