
Elkin Roots Music Pageant slated for June 24 and 25 at The Reeves Theater.
The Elkin Roots Music Pageant is slated for this weekend with performances Friday and Saturday on the Reeves Theater that includes Darin and Brooke Aldridge, DaShawn and Wendy Hickman, Caleb Caudle, Wanda Johnson, Massive Ron Hunter, The Reeves Home Band, and extra.
The Elkin Roots Music Pageant was created by The Elkin Valley Fiddlers which fashioned as a bunch in 2012. The primary gathering was held beside the Yadkin River in Crater Park.
“We invited a number of bands to return play for recreation on a Saturday afternoon. It was a cold and moist April day, however despite the climate, the musicians and their followers had a good time, and the Roots Music Fest was born,” organizers defined.
Since then the occasion has expanded to incorporate native and regional musicians and new genres. The competition has been held in a wide range of areas in Elkin together with Elkin Municipal Park, the Foothills Arts Council backyard and in 2018 it moved to the Reeves Theater.
The competition begins with performances by Darin and Brooke Aldridge and Caleb Caudle at 7 p.m. on Friday. Saturday at 7 p.m. is the Massive Blues Evening that includes DaShawn and Wendy Hickman current: Sacred Metal, Wanda Johnson, Massive Ron Hunter and The Reeves Home band.
